Connecting your Google account and Fibe TV Box

Enjoy thousands of apps directly from your TV – no additional equipment required.

  • Download apps from the thousands available on the Google Play Store, including games, podcasts, music and fitness apps.

Control Fibe TV with your voice using Google Assistant.

  • Change channels, open your favourite apps, pause or rewind live TV and much more, all with your voice.
  • Press the Google Assistant button on your remote and say a command.

Search for content easily.

  • Search all platforms at once, such as live TV, apps, On Demand or Pay-per-view content.
  • Press the Google Assistant button on your remote and say the program you are looking for.

Signing in to your Google account on your Fibe TV Box will give you:

  • Access to the Google Play Store, where you can choose from thousands of apps to download
  • More personalized search results
  • Full access to Google Assistant so you can use the voice control features on your remote

To sign in to your Google account:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote and select Settings.
  2. Under the heading Device, select Device Settings.
  3. Select Accounts & Sign-In, then select Sign In.
  4. Enter the email and password associated with your Google account.

Google Assistant is a key feature of your Fibe TV Box, giving you a quick way to navigate and to search for programs on all platforms at once, such as live TV, apps, On Demand or Pay-per-view content.

To use Google Assistant:

  1. Press the Google Assistant button on your remote.

    This will pause TV playback, and a Try Saying… bar will pop up at the bottom of the screen with suggestions.

  2. Speak through the microphone on the remote.

    You don’t have to say “Hey Google,” and the Google Assistant will understand terms such as: Watch, Play, Tune to, Switch to, Search for, Show me.

Note: Google Assistant will use the language you’ve set in your account (currently only English and French are supported). If you want to give Google Assistant commands in both English and French, you can add a language in your Google account .

You’ll find below the full list of commands you can currently use with your Google Assistant voice remote.

Universal search

To search across all your installed apps, press the Google Assistant button on your remote or select the Google Assistant icon at the top of the left navigation menu.

To search for TV shows and movies, try saying:

  • Game of Thrones
  • Seinfeld TV show
  • Show me Star Trek Picard
  • Aquaman movie
  • Angry Birds Movie 2
  • Big Bang Theory
  • Search for The Good Doctor
  • Ellen on Bell Fibe TV

To search for actors, try saying:

  • Movies with Jason Statham
  • Show me Dwayne Johnson movies
  • Anne Hathaway movies
  • Movies with Tom Cruise

To search for genres, try saying:

  • Matt Damon action movies
  • Show me horror movies
  • Comedy movies with Kevin Hart

Change channels

To change channels using your voice remote, press the Google Assistant button and try saying:

  • Tune to channel TSN
  • CTV
  • Tune to channel 1401
  • Channel CP24
  • Tune to channel 1503
  • Channel BNN on Fibe TV app

Navigation

To navigate within your Bell Fibe TV box seamlessly, press the Google Assistant button.

To navigate within the Bell Fibe TV app, try saying:

  • What’s on TSN?
  • Go home
  • Open settings
  • What’s on now
  • Open guide
  • Open recordings
  • Show my apps
  • What’s on CP24?

To navigate across different apps try saying:

  • Open Crave
  • Open Netflix
  • Open Amazon Prime Video
  • Open YouTube

Playback

To control playback while watching live or on Demand content with Trickplay, try saying:

  • Pause
  • Play
  • Stop
  • Go forward 15 minutes
  • Go back 10 minutes
  • Go to 20 minutes
  • Turn on closed captions
  • Turn off closed captions

Power and volume commands

To control your Bell Fibe TV box’s power and volume, try saying:

  • Sleep
  • Volume down
  • Volume up 10%
  • Mute
  • Volume to 50%

Note: These commands only control the power and volume of the Bell Fibe TV box. Controlling your TV’s power and volume is not yet supported.

Future commands

Bell is constantly evolving its Google Assistant voice service to improve your TV experience. Stay tuned as we continue to grow our list of supported voice commands.

Before setting up Google Home, you should assign a name to your Fibe TV Box. This will allow you to identify the receiver that you want to control with the app.

Naming the Fibe TV Box

  1. Using the Fibe TV remote, press the Home button.
  2. Scroll to and select Settings.
  3. Scroll to and select Device Settings.
  4. Scroll to and select Set your Device name.
  5. Choose a name for your Fibe TV Box.

With the Google Home app installed on your Android  or iOS  device, launch the app to begin setting up your account.

  1. Open the Google Home app on your Android or iOS device. Ensure that you use the same Google account on the Google Home app as your Fibe TV Box.
  2. To log in to or change your Google account on the Fibe TV Box, visit Home > Settings > Device Settings > Accounts & Sign in > Add account.
  3. Touch Set up new device and select the name you gave the Fibe TV Box.
  4. The Google Assistant button on the Fibe TV Voice Remote will now be able to control other Google Home devices.

In addition to using the Fibe TV Voice Remote provided with your Fibe TV Box, you can use the Google TV app on your smartphone to control your Fibe TV Box.

You can use the Google TV app as a remote to:

  • Play movies and TV shows
  • Control media playback
  • Turn the TV on or off
  • Say voice commands using the Google Assistant
  • Change the volume
  • Enter text to search or log in

With the Google TV app installed on your Android  or iOS  device, launch the app to begin setting up your account. Your device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Fibe TV Box.

  1. With the app open, touch TV Remote or Connect TV.
  2. Touch the name you gave your Fibe TV Box.
  3. Enter the code that appears on your TV screen and touch Pair.
  4. Your Fibe TV Box is now set up. Touch TV Remote to use the app to control your Fibe TV Box.
