Bell MTS High Speed Internet how to setup broadband, Internet roaming, username and password problems, and FAQ

This service is only available to MTS customers in Manitoba. To find support for your region, please select your province.

Bell MTS High Speed Interent - Set up Broadband (PPPoE) service Windows 10

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Network & Internet.
  4. Click Dial-up.
  5. Click Set up a new connection.
  6. Click Connect to the Internet and click Next.
  7. Click Broadband (PPPoE).
  8. Enter your Username and Password and click Connect.

    It's a good idea to rename the connection from Broadband Connection to something more recognizable (ie. Bell MTS).

  9. The "Testing your Internet connection" screen will display.
  10. If the connection is successful “The connection to the Internet is ready to use” screen will display and you are online.

If the connection fails the "Connection failed" screen will display and will include the error message. Click Set up the connection anyway to allow Windows to create PPPoE connection.

Bell MTS High Speed Interent - Set up Broadband (PPPoE) service for Mac OS X 10.8 and higher

  1. From the Apple Menu, click System Preferences.
  2. Under Internet & Wireless, click the Network icon.
  3. On the Ethernet tab next to Configure IPv4, select Create PPPoE Service.
  4. Leave the Service Name field as PPPoE and click Done.
  5. Complete the Network Screen:

    1. PPPoE Service Name: not required.
    2. Account Name: user id provided by Bell MTS.
    3. Password: password provided by Bell MTS.
    4. Click on remember this password to select it.
    5. Click Show PPPoE status in menu bar to select it.
    6. Click Connect.

Bell MTS High Speed Internet username or password problems

When connecting to the Internet your username and password must be in a specific format relative to the type of Internet connection you have.

If you are having problems connecting to your High Speed Internet and are getting an "incorrect username or password" type error, please ensure your username is in the proper format:

Bell MTS High Speed Interent - Internet roaming

Bell MTS enables our High Speed Internet customers to access their Internet account when away from home.

Our Dial-up Internet network, High Speed Internet Plus, Professional or Network plans all include up to 40 hours of Dial-up Internet roaming in the regular monthly fee. All other Bell MTS High Speed Internet plans can 'roam' for only $1.50 per hour of Internet access.

Customers who are roaming in Canada (outside of Manitoba) or the United States will not incur long distance charges when they set their computer's dial-in access number

How to set up Dial-up roaming for Windows 10

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Network & Internet.
  4. The "Network & Internet" screen will appear. Click Dial-up on the left to expand, and then click Set up a new connection.
  5. Click Connect to the Internet and click Next.
  6. Click Dial-up.
  7. Enter this information and click Connect:

    • User name: Your Bell MTS username (e.g. user@res1.mts.net).
    • Password: Your Bell MTS password.
    • Dial: 2042254638
    • Ensure Remember this password is checked.
    • Ensure Allow other people to use this connection is checked.

Does Bell MTS have data use limits?

Bell MTS does not have data use limits on its personal High Speed Internet plans, they are unlimited.

Bell MTS reserves the right to restrict data usage in the event that a customers' data usage is so excessive that it impacts the network capacity and our ability to provide service to other customers.

Typical browsing or average household online streaming behaviours are not considered excessive use.

What are Internet data use limits?

Data use limits are restrictions placed on the amount of data you can stream or download from the Internet each month. Other Internet providers may have these data use limits; however, Bell MTS has unlimited data usage on all personal High Speed Internet plans.

Does Bell MTS monitor the type of Internet data that customers are using?

No, Bell MTS does not monitor the type of Internet data its customers are using. However, all data is subject to the Internet Usage Policy.

Does Bell MTS manage traffic on its High Speed Internet network?

Bell MTS does on occasion manage network traffic in order to offer all customers on our network the best service experience possible. By managing the data on our network, we can ensure that all customers have access to a consistent, reliable experience.

How does Bell MTS's network management practices affect customers?

Bell MTS may control the speeds of customers' High Speed Internet in a specific geographic area in order to ensure that there is enough bandwidth available to all customers. When a customer is experiencing controlled speeds, the reduced speeds should not affect low bandwidth applications like sending emails, website browsing, and instant messaging applications. Reduced speeds will likely affect the performance and length of time required for applications that can require greater bandwidth like peer-to-peer file sharing.
