How to use Family Protection Android Edition

Overview

If you have installed McAfee® Security from Bell Better or Best editions on your Android mobile device, you can use Family Protection to monitor and control Internet use on your device.

Creating an administrator account

  1. Open the McAfee® Family Protection application on your Android device.
  2. Indicate whether you already have a McAfee Family Protection account (such as on your home computer).
    1. If you already have an account, enter your username and password.

    Or

    1. If you do not have an account, enter your first name, last name, and email address and then tap Next.
    2. Enter a password in the Password and Re-enter password fields.
  3. Agree to the license agreement and then tap Next.
  4. If you have more than one user, select one and then tap Next.
  5. If required, select the user’s age group and gender, and then tap Next.
  6. Tap Open browser to start browsing the web.

Creating user accounts

  1. Open McAfee® Family Protection on your Android device and log in.
  2. In the Manage users screen, tap Create a user.
  3. Enter the user’s name. Usernames must be at least 5 characters long.
  4. Enter a password in the Password and Re-enter password fields. Passwords must also be at least 5 characters long.
  5. Select the user’s age group.
  6. Tap Done.

To switch between users while logged in to Family Protection, press the Menu button and then select Change User. You’ll need to enter your administrator password.

Changing the content rating for a user

  1. Open McAfee® Family Protection on your Android device and log in.
  2. If you have more than one user account set up, select the one you want to edit.
  3. Tap Change content filter.
  4. Choose a rating in the Select filter drop-down menu. Choosing None disables the content rating filter. Choosing Custom lets you select your own categories of websites to block.
  5. Tap Save settings.

Blocking or allowing specific websites

  1. Open McAfee® Family Protection on your Android device and log in.
  2. If you have more than one user account set up, select the one you want to edit.
  3. Tap Allow a website or Block a website.
  4. Enter the URL of the website you want to allow or block.
  5. Tap Add website or Block website.
