Reporting security issues

If you encounter phishing attempts from email or text/multimedia messages (SMS/MMS), or if you believe you may be the victim of fraudulent activity, consult the information below on how to report these issues.

Report any suspicious email that appears to be from Bell by forwarding it to phish@bell.ca. To do so, start a new email message and attach the suspicious email, as this will include additional header information to help us investigate

Phishing or spam messages (SMS/MMS)

If you receive a suspicious text message (SMS) or multimedia message (MMS), follow the steps below to report it to Bell.

To report a message on an Apple device:

  1. Open the Messages app.
  2. Open the message.
  3. Touch Report Junk.

To report a message on most Android devices (Google Messages):

  1. Open the Google Messages app.
  2. Open the message.
  3. Touch the Menu icon (top-right corner).
  4. Touch Block and report spam.

To report a message on an Android device when Google Messages is not the default application:

  1. Open the Messages app.
  2. Touch the message you want to report.

    Do not select any of the links in the message.

  3. Press and hold the message bubble you want to forward. Touch the 3 stacked dots once they appear.
  4. Touch Forward.
  5. Enter 7726 as the recipient of the message then touch either New message or the + sign to accept. Touch Done.
  6. Touch Send to forward the message.
  7. Delete the original message.

If you are victim of a ransom threat, contact your local police. If the threat was received by email or text, be sure to keep a copy to show to the police, if requested.

If you have been a victim of identity theft or of telemarketing, email or Internet fraud, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or call them at 1 888 495-8501.

If you see suspicious activity on your Bell account such as a new line that you don’t recognize or a phone upgrade that you didn’t authorize, or if you suspect your device or SIM card has been compromised in any way, please contact Bell Loss Prevention at 1 800 509-9904 immediately. You can also log in to MyBell to report your device as lost and temporarily suspend your service.
