How to configure my Sony Ericsson W705 for the Bell Mobility 4G network

If you bought your Sony Ericsson W705 from Bell, it is already set up for the Bell Mobility 4G network.

Follow these instructions to manually configure an unlocked Sony Ericsson W705 for multimedia messaging (MMS) and browsing on the Bell Mobility 4G network.

Browser settings

  1. Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity (scroll to the right) > Internet settings > Connect using.
  2. Select Options (left softkey) > Create New.
  3. Select PS data.
  4. Enter the following settings:
    Name: Bell WAP Connection
    APN: proxy.bell.ca
  5. Select Save.
  6. With Bell WAP Connection highlighted, select Options > Edit.
  7. Scroll down and select Proxy settings.
  8. Set Proxy to On.
  9. Scroll down and select Proxy servers > HTTP. Enter the following settings:
    Username: None
    Password: None
    Proxy address: web.wireless.bell.ca
    Port: 80
  10. Go back to Data accounts and select Bell WAP Connection. Press Save and exit.


If you bought your phone from another mobile provider, the browser home page may be hardcoded to go to that provider's WAP page. This page will not load under Bell settings. You can browse to other websites by manually entering the URLs.

MMS settings

  1. Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity (scroll to the right) > Internet settings > Connect using .
  2. Select Options (left softkey) > Create New .
  3. Select PS data .
  4. Enter the following settings:
    Name: Bell MMS Connection
    APN: proxy.bell.ca
  5. Select Save .
  6. With Bell MMS Connection highlighted, select Options > Edit .
  7. Change the Authentication to PAP .
  8. Scroll down and select Proxy settings .
  9. Set Proxy to On .
  10. Scroll down and select Proxy servers > HTTP . Enter the following settings:
    Username:
    Password:
    Proxy address: web.wireless.bell.ca
    Port: 80
  11. Return to the previous screen and apply the same settings as HTTP to Secure and Streaming.
  12. Press Back to save the settings and exit to the main screen.
  13. Select Menu > Messages > Settings > Picture message > MMS Profile .
  14. Create a new profile with the following settings:
    MMS profile name: Bell MMS Connection
    Message server: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
    Connect using: Bell MMS Connection (created above)
  15. Select Save and select the newly created profile (Bell MMS Connection) as the MMS profile.


Streaming settings

  1. Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity (scroll to the right) > Streaming settings > Connect using .
  2. Select Bell WAP Connection .
  3. Save and exit settings.

Please note that you will have to reprogram these settings any time you insert a different SIM card or if you reset the phone.
