How to configure my Sony Ericsson C905a for the Bell Mobility 4G network

Follow these instructions to manually configure an unlocked Sony Ericsson C905a for MMS and browsing on the Bell Mobility 4G network.

Browser settings

  1. Navigate to Access Point settings:
    Menu > Settings > Connectivity (scroll right to this tab) > Internet settings > Connect using.
  2. Select Options (left softkey) > Create New.
  3. Select PS data.
  4. Enter the following settings:
    Name: Bell
    APN: pda.bell.ca
  5. Select Save.
  6. With the newly added account highlighted, select Options > Edit.
    Do not make changes to the settings in this screen. Scroll down and select Proxy settings.
  7. Set Proxy to On.
  8. Scroll down to Proxy servers > HTTP and enter the following settings:
    Username: None
    Password: None
    Proxy Address: web.wireless.bell.ca
    Port: 80
  9. Go back to “Data accounts” and select the newly created account. Save and exit the settings.

Note: the home page URL for the browser is hardcoded to go to Rogers’ WAP home page. This page will not load under Bell APN settings. You can browse different websites by manually entering the URLs.

MMS settings

  1. Navigate to Access Point settings:
    Menu > Settings > Connectivity (scroll right to this tab) > Message settings >  Picture message > MMS Profile.
  2. Select New profile and click Add to create a new profile with the following settings:
    MMS profile name: MMS
    Message server: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
    Connect using: Bell
  3. Click Save and select the newly created profile as the MMS profile.

Streaming settings

  1. Navigate to Access Point settings:
    Menu > Settings > Connectivity   (scroll right to this tab) > Streaming settings > Connect using.
  2. Select the connection account for Bell.
  3. Save and exit settings.

Please note that you will have to re-enter the above settings anytime you insert a different SIM card or if you reset to default settings.
