Connecting to Wi-Fi

Connecting a mobile device to a home network (Wi-Fi)

You can connect your mobile phone or tablet to your wireless home network (or another Wi-Fi network). This way, you'll use data from your home Internet service instead of your Bell Mobility data plan.

You'll need the following information to connect to Wi-Fi:

  • The network name (SSID)
  • The network key (WEP/WPA password)

If you already have this information handy, go to step 2.

1. Find the network name and key.

Tip: Write down the network name and key for easy reference.

  • Bell Internet default settings: If you're a Bell Internet customer and haven't changed the modem settings, the default network name (SSID) and network key are printed on a label on the underside of the modem.
  • Bell Internet customized settings: If you changed your Bell Internet network name (SSID) and network key, and you can't remember the information:
    1. Visit our Bell Internet wireless connection support page.
    2. Select your modem.
    3. Select the tab called Securing your wireless network for more information.
  • Other Internet service providers: Please contact your Internet service provider to find your network name and key.

2. Connect your mobile device to your home network (Wi-Fi).

See a step-by-step tutorial:

If your device isn't listed above:

  1. Visit our mobile device support page.
  2. Select your phone or tablet from the drop-down lists.
  3. Consult the user guide for information about Wi-Fi connections.
