I’m having trouble making or receiving calls on my smartphone

I’m not able to make calls from my smartphone

  1. Confirm that your smartphone is turned on and the wireless network is enabled.
    Visit the phones and accessories page and select your phone model to consult your user guide if you are unsure whether the wireless network is enabled.
  2. Ensure that the network signal strength is sufficient.
    If you don’t have adequate signal strength, move to another part of the building or outside.
  3. Ensure you have coverage.
    See our coverage maps.
  4. Try making a test call by dialing *2355.
    A recording should state your test call is successful.
    If you hear a recording saying "To activate your Bell Mobility phone...", please visit your nearest Bell store for assistance.
  5. Is there is a problem with the number you’re dialing?
    Ensure that you're using 10 digits including the area code when placing calls.
    Try dialing the same number from another phone.
If the problem persists, please contact us for further assistance.

  4. Try making a test call.

    2. Try phoning your smartphone from another phone.
  5. If you’re using a smartphone, make sure that no call blockage features, such as "Do not disturb", are enabled..
    Visit the phones and accessories page and select your phone model to consult step–by-step tutorials or your user guide to learn how to use those features.
  6. Is the ringer on the phone loud enough to be heard?
    Check that the phone is not set to vibrate or low ring volume.
  7. Check that Call Forwarding is not turned on.
    Learn how to turn off Call Forwarding on your mobile phone.
  8. Check to make sure your phone is not set to auto answer.
    Visit the phones and accessories page and select your phone model to see your user guide for information on adjusting this setting.
  9. Is the problem happening only when you connect the phone to an accessory?
    Troubleshoot the accessory directly, since the problem may not be related to the phone.
  10. Are you engaged in any type of data or browser session on the phone?
    Close the session and try again.
  11. Does this only occur when you’re roaming?
    Ensure that your smartphone isn’t set to Home only. The Home only setting prevents your smartphone from selecting another carrier when you roam outside the Bell network. Visit the phones and accessories page and select your phone model to see your user guide for information on adjusting this setting. Note: Disabling Home only will allow roaming on foreign networks.
