How to activate an additional receiver

You can activate up to five (5) additional Bell Satellite TV receivers on your account at no extra cost if they're installed in your home. You'll find more details in the customer agreement.

Make sure that all connections to the satellite dish and TV are complete before activating your receiver.

To activate an additional receiver, you have two self-serve options.

Option 1 - Online

1. Access the System Info screen once you have turned on your satellite TV receiver. You may access System Info by any of the following:

  • Press the System Info button on the front panel of your receiver, if available.
  • Press the Menu button twice on your Bell remote.
  • Press Power on your receiver and then press the up arrow button.

2. On the System Info screen, take note of the receiver and SmartCard numbers.

Note: The receiver number starts with R while the SmartCard number starts with S. You only need the first 10 numbers that appear after R and S.

3. Activate the receiver and SmartCard in MyBell.

a. Log in to MyBell to manage your equipment directly.

b. Scroll down the page and select Activate a receiver.

c. Enter the receiver and SmartCard numbers.

d. Select Submit. The activation is complete.

Option 2 – Over the phone

Note: Make sure you have the 4-digit PIN for your Bell Satellite TV account handy.

1. Call .

2. Choose the Activate an additional receiver option from the self-serve prompts.

3. Follow the instructions.

Following the activation, it may take 15 minutes to 2 hours for your programming to appear. You may notice the message Attention 129 ( “Please call to synchronize your programming” ) or Attention 128 ( “Your receiver is being authorized” ). If the programming has not loaded after 2 hours, try the steps below.

A. Check the switch

  1. Press the Menu button on the Bell remote control.
  2. Press 6 to go to the System. Setup menu (this appears as Settings on the 9500 model).
  3. Press 1 to go to the Installation menu.
  4. Press 1 to go to the Point Dish screen.
  5. Using the arrow keys, scroll to the Check or Check Switch option on your screen and press the select button.
  6. Using the arrow keys, scroll to Test and press select. Your system is now running the signal test; please wait as this may take several minutes.
  7. Exit the menu
