Learning about and managing my HTC smartphone

If your HTC smartphone becomes unresponsive or doesn't perform as expected, you can perform a soft reset by restarting it. A soft reset will not erase any of your data, downloaded apps or settings.
Before starting the steps listed below, charge your device for 15 minutes by plugging the power cable and adapter into a wall outlet. We recommend using the power cable and adapter that came with the phone.

Restarting your device.
  1. Press and hold the Power button, and touch Restart.
  2. Your HTC smartphone will now reboot to the start up screen.
If your HTC smartphone does not respond or turn on, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons until your phone vibrates. You will need to hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons for 15 seconds for the soft reset to occur.
  2. Release the Power and Volume Down buttons.
  3. Your HTC smartphone will now reboot to the startup screen.
If the soft reset steps do not work, you may need to perform a hard reset.
Warning: a hard reset will erase all of your stored data, downloaded apps and settings.
If your HTC smartphone becomes unresponsive or doesn't perform as expected, you can perform a hard reset to return it to the factory default state.
  1. Before resetting your phone, turn it off and then on again. This may fix some issues. If your phone wonʼt turn off, follow the steps below.
  2. Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons until the Android recovery screen appears
  3. Press the Volume down button.
  4. With Restart bootloader displayed, press the Power button.
  5. Scroll to wipe data/factory reset by pressing the volume down button.
  6. Press the Power button.
  7. Scroll to Yes by pressing the Volume down button.
  8. Press the Power button.
  9. The phone will now wipe all contents
  10. Press the Power button.
  11. The phone will now reboot to the initial set up screen
Please note that all of your data, downloaded apps and settings will be erased during the reset. Ensure that any photos, music, documents or other data that you wish to keep is backed up somewhere else, other than on the device itself.

  1. Touch Apps.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Scroll to Storage. The storage used is displayed. To view more information, touch Storage.
  4. The storage details are displayed.
Find the phone number of the SIM card in your HTC smartphone.
  1. Touch Apps.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Scroll to and touch About.
  4. Scroll to and touch Phone Identity.
  5. The phone number is displayed.
Follow these steps to insert a SIM card into your HTC smartphone.
  1. When facing the front of the HTC, the SIM card slot is on the side
  2. Insert the SIM removal tool (included in the box the phone came in) and push to eject the SIM card tray.
  3. Remove the SIM card tray.
  4. Insert the SIM card into the SIM card tray.
  5. Re-insert the SIM card tray and push until it clicks into place.
