How to top up the funds in my prepaid phone account

Bell offers various prepaid options to fit your needs. Keep your account active by topping up before your funds expire1. You'll also carry over any unused funds from one month to the next. Missed a top-up? Top up within seven days following your expiry date and your unused funds will be restored.

Pre-authorized top up

Never worry about running out of minutes. Just pick the option that fits you best and we’ll take care of the rest.

Get up to 500 MB of bonus data/month when you sign up for one of our Automatic Monthly top-up options on eligible plans.

1. Automatic Low Balance top-up option

Tops up your account when your balance drops below $5 or when your funds expire.

2. Automatic Monthly top-up

Tops up your account on a designated day each month and ensures unused funds carry over to the next month.

3. Automatic Monthly/Low Balance top-up option

Tops up your account on a designated day each month and if your funds run out before the end of the month, ensuring unused funds carry over to the next month.

Top up on the go

  • Log in to MyBell at bell.ca/mybell - top up using a prepaid, credit or debit card
  • Log in to the MyBell app - top up using a prepaid card or credit card

Any Prepaid funds which are added to your account on a promotional basis will have an Active Period of 30 calendar days unless otherwise stated and are not restored or extended by top-up. Maintain a positive account balance to ensure uninterrupted service.

The Automatic Low Balance top-up option1 tops up your prepaid phone account by the amount that you've set whenever your balance drops below $5 or your funds expire.

To register for the Automatic Low Balance top-up option

On your computer or tablet, you can top up your prepaid phone account balance in MyBell.

  1. Log in to MyBell.
  2. On the Overview tab, under My prepaid account, click Learn about pre-authorized top-ups.
  3. Select Automatic Low Balance top-up option and follow the on-screen instructions.

On your smartphone, you can use the MyBell app.

  1. Launch the MyBell app.
  2. Click Set up pre-authorized payments.
  3. Select Automatic Low Balance top-up option and follow the on-screen instructions.

1 If your balance is below $0, your credit card or bank account will be charged the amount required to bring it to $0 as well as the amount required to bring your account balance to your registered amount. Taxes extra. Allow up to 48 hours for funds to be added to your account.

The Automatic Monthly top-up automatically tops up your account by the amount that you've set on a designated day every month. The funds are deducted directly from your bank account or credit card every month, and you don’t have to worry about any unused balance expiring.

Note that you must use the minutes from your prepaid card before they expire (see the funds expiry chart). However if you add funds to your account before the expiry date, you’ll be able to carry over your unused minutes. If you miss the expiry date, your unused minutes can be restored if you top up within seven days.

  1. Log in to or register for MyBell.
  2. Under My prepaid account, select Top up now.
  3. Select By prepaid card.
  4. Enter the card number and complete the transaction.

On your smartphone, you can top up your account using the MyBell app.

  3. Select Prepaid card.
  4. Enter the card number and complete the transaction

The easiest way to use your credit card to add funds to your prepaid phone account is online with your computer or tablet.

  1. Log in to My Bell.
  2. Under My prepaid account, select Top up now.
  3. Select By credit card.
  4. Choose the top-up amount and complete the transaction.

If you prefer, you can top up your account using the MyBell app:

  1. Launch the MyBell app
  2. Click Top up.
  3. Select Credit card.
  4. Choose the top up amount and complete the transaction.
The Express Top Up Program lets you register your credit card or bank account and add funds to your prepaid phone account whenever you need to. Once you’re registered, simply dial #369 from your mobile phone and enter the PIN provided at registration to add funds to your account.

To register for the Express Top Up Program:

  1. On your computer or tablet, log in to MyBell.
  2. Select the Prepaid account tab.
  3. Under Top up options and Express Top-up Service, select Create your express service PIN
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to register to for the Express Top Up Program.
