My McAfee Security from Bell software won’t open

If your McAfee® Security software won’t open, opens to a blank white screen, or if you see a JavaScript error, there may be a problem with your Windows operating system. Follow the instructions below to resolve the problem.

  1. Save any files you are working in.
  2. Click the following link and save the file to your desktop:

    http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/mcscriptfix.zip

  3. Unzip the file you downloaded and save mcscriptfix.bat to your desktop.
  4. Right-click mcscriptfix.bat and select Run as Administrator.
  5. If prompted, select Yes in the User Account Control box.

    Note: While this script runs, a black DOS prompt window will appear on your screen.

  6. Press any key to continue when prompted.
  7. Restart your computer.

After your computer restarts, open your McAfee software and check if the problem is resolved. If the problem persists, follow the steps below.

  1. Click the following link and save the file to your desktop:

    http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe

  2. Double-click McPreInstall.exe.
  3. Click Start inside the Preinstall Tool.
  4. Read the warning message and click OK.
  5. After the tool is done, click OK.
  6. Click Close and restart your computer.

After your computer restarts, open your McAfee software and check if the problem is resolved.
