Learning about and managing my LG smartphone

If your LG smartphone becomes unresponsive or doesnʼt perform as expected, you can perform a hard reset to return it to the factory default state.

  1. Before resetting your phone, turn it off and then on again. This may solve the problem. If your phone doesnʼt turn on, follow these steps to perform a hard reset.
  2. Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons until the LG logo appears on the screen.
  3. Keeping the Volume down button held down, release the Power button then immediately press and hold it again.
  4. Release the Volume down and Power buttons when the "Factory data reset" screen appears.
  5. Scroll to Yes by pressing the Volume down button.
  6. Press the Power button.
  7. Scroll to Yes by pressing the Volume down button.
  8. Press the Power button.
  9. The phone will reset and reboot to the initial setup screen.

Warning: all of your data, downloaded apps and settings will be erased during the reset.

    Note: make sure Settings is in list view by touching the menu icon (3 dots), then List View.
  3. Scroll to and touch Storage.
  4. The space used and the available space are displayed.

  3. Scroll to and touch About phone.
  4. Scroll to and touch Status.
  5. Scroll to My phone number, your phone number is displayed.
  1. Locate the SIM card slot on your device
  2. Insert the SIM removal tool (included in the box the phone came in) and push to eject the SIM/memory card tray.
  3. Remove the SIM/memory card tray.
  4. Insert the memory card and SIM card into the SIM/memory card tray.
  5. Re-insert the SIM/memory card tray and push until it clicks into place.
Note: The SIM card slot location may differ depending on your model.

In your device settings, you can see the software version you’re running, check for updates and set up automatic updates (if available).

Before you update

It can take some time to install updates, so make sure your device is:

  • Charged or plugged in
  • Connected to Wi-Fi

To check your software version:

  1. Touch Settings.
  2. Touch System.
  3. Touch About phone.
  4. Touch Software info.
  5. The software version is displayed.

 

To update your software:

  1. Touch Settings.
  2. Touch System.
  3. Touch Update center.
  4. Touch Software updates.
  5. Touch Check now for new update.
