Other devices in your home can emit radio frequencies that disrupt your Wi-Fi signal and cause slowdowns. These devices include:
- Microwave ovens
- Power sources (e.g., electrical panels)
- Cordless phones
- Wireless speakers
- Wireless baby monitors
- Wireless cameras
How to reduce radio interference
- Try removing or turning off sources of interference to see if that helps. You can also try moving away from the source of interference, in particular from sources that are constantly in use such as electrical panels. Moving just a few feet can help.
- You can also try your modem’s built-in Wi-Fi optimizer*. This tool will help you find the Wi Fi channel that has the least amount of interference. Learn how to use the Wi-Fi optimizer
*Note: The Wi-Fi optimizer is only available with Home Hub modems.
