Key features of your Wi-Fi network
The Home Hub 2000 is a premium modem and router that includes the latest Wi-Fi technology and features.
Wireless AC technology
The Home Hub 2000 supports the latest Wi-Fi standard, 802.11ac, so you can enjoy the fastest speeds and the best coverage. Because it also supports previous standards (802.11 a, b, g, n), nearly all Wi-Fi devices will be able to connect to your network.
Your Home Hub 2000 modem can transmit its Wi-Fi signal on both the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz wireless bands. It can transmit both at the same time to optimize your Wi-Fi performance or you can choose to use one or the other.
The 2.4 GHz band gives you the longest Wi-Fi range. Since many wireless products (cordless phones, baby monitors) also use the 2.4 GHz frequency, your Wi-Fi network can pick up interference from these devices, causing slower speeds and possible disconnects.
The 5 GHz band is faster and less likely to become congested. Because it is absorbed more by obstructions such as walls and floors, it doesn’t have as long a range as the 2.5 GHz band, yet still more than enough range to cover the area of a typical home.
Guest Wi-Fi network
You can set up a guest Wi-Fi network for visitors to your home. The guest network only provides access to the Internet. Guests don’t have access to the other devices on your network and cannot change your network’s settings.
