Signing in to webmail
We're currently hard at work making your Bell email better. During this period you'll experience a temporary two-step log in.
To sign in to your Bell email account from the web:
- Go to the sign-in page at www.bell.net
- Enter your Bell email address under Email address.
- Click Continue
- Enter your Bell email address and password.
- Click Log in or Sign in.
You can be signed in on more than one computer at once.
When you are done using Bell email, click your name in the top right corner of the window and then choose Sign out, or simply close your web browser. You will automatically be signed out if you leave your Bell Mail idle for a period of time, unless you have checked the Keep me signed in option.

Using Bell Mail with an email program
Using Bell email with an Email Program
We highly recommend using web-based Bell email, to make the most of its many features. Learn more about Bell email.
However, you can configure Bell email to work with your email software using either POP or IMAP settings. We recommend using IMAP because it provides useful functions, such as syncing your folders and messages across multiple devices.
Supported email software: Mail for Mac OS 10.5Mail for Mac OS 10.4Mail for Mac OS 10.3Windows Live Mail 2011Windows Live Mail 2009Windows MailOutlook 2010Outlook 2007Outlook 2003Outlook Express Unsupported email software
If your email software is not listed, you can attempt to set it up yourself using the support options offered by your software manufacturer.
You’ll need your Bell Mail email address and password, plus one of the following server settings. We recommend using IMAP.
IMAP:
Incoming mail server (IMAP):
IMAP Server: imap.bell.net
Port: 993
SSL required: Yes (Select This server requires a secure connection (SSL) or Use SSL.)
Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
SMTP Server: smtphm.sympatico.ca
Port: 25 (or 587 if port 25 does not work)
Authentication required: Yes
TLS/SSL required: Yes (Select STARTTLS or TLS if available, if not, select SSL.)
POP:
Incoming mail server (POP):
POP Server: pophm.sympatico.ca
Port: 995
SSL required: Yes (Select This server requires a secure connection (SSL) or Use SSL.)
Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
SMTP Server: smtphm.sympatico.ca
Port: 25 (or 587 if port 25 does not work)
Authentication required: Yes
TLS/SSL required: Yes (Select STARTTLS or TLS if available, if not, select SSL).
If your account hasn’t been migrated to the new email platform, you will also need to enable POP by logging into webmail and following these steps:
- Select the options gear.

- Select More mail settings.
- Select Connect devices and apps with POP.
- Under POP, check Enable.
- Select Save.
If you don’t know if you’ve been migrated to the new email platform, the easiest way to tell is to check which webmail interface you see when you log in at bell.net/mail.

Syncing Calendar and Contacts:
If you want to sync your Calendar and Contacts to your device or email software, you can do so using CalDAV (Calendar) and CardDAV (Contacts). Use the following settings:
CalDAV/CardDAV Server: dav.webmail.bell.net
Port: 443
Encryption: SSL

Resetting your password
If you’ve lost or forgotten your email password, follow the steps below to change it or follow the tutorial.
Reset your password through MyBell
- Log in to MyBell (bell.ca) using your MyBell username and password.
- On the MyBell homepage, under the My Services section, click View details.

- Click on My package and features.

- Click on Change next to Email address.

- Click on Change email password.

- Choose a new password and click Save.

Option 2: Reset your password through Bell Mail
- Open the Bell Mail password reset page.
- Enter your email address.
- Type in the characters shown in the security picture.

- Click Continue.
- To reset your password:
Answer your secret question
or
Send yourself a password reset email (if you provided an alternate email address)
- Follow the on-screen steps for resetting your password.
Tips for creating a strong Bell Mail password
- Make it at least eight characters long.
- Don’t use your username, real name, or company name.
- Don’t use complete words.
- Make it significantly different from previous passwords and don’t use the same password for all of your accounts.
- Include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols (such as !, #, *).

Finding your Bell Mail address
You can find your Bell Mail address (ending in “sympatico.ca” or “bell.net”) in MyBell. Follow the steps below to locate it or follow the tutorial.
- Log in to MyBell. If you don’t have a MyBell username and password, you can register now or learn more about MyBell.
- On the MyBell homepage, under the My Services section, click View details.

- Click on My package and features.

- You will now see all the email addresses associated with your account listed next to Email address.

You can also reset your Bell Mail password if you’ve forgotten it.
