What is the Twitter app?

Fibe TV is introducing another first: TwitterTM on your TV. Exclusive to Fibe TV, Twitter lets you follow what people are saying about your favourite shows – right on your TV screen. Twitter is a free app to all Bell Fibe TV subscribers.

This application gives you direct access to the most popular Twitter features on your TV, so you can:

  • See who you’re following and their tweets
  • Share what you’re watching
  • Post a Tweet
  • View live TV Tweets from fans watching the same show you’re watching based on Twitter popularity (retweet)
  • Check out Trending Topics and Top Tweets as defined by Twitter popularity

Note: using Fibe TV applications will count towards your Internet usage at the same download and upload rates as using the Internet on your computer. To track and estimate your Internet usage, visit bell.ca/myinternetusage.

How to set up the Twitter application on Fibe TV

To access the Twitter application on Fibe TV, you need an active Twitter account and your receiver must be connected to the Internet. You'll also need a computer with Internet access and your Twitter login information.

To navigate within the application, use the up/down/left/right/select buttons on your Fibe TV remote control.

Getting started:

To start using the Twitter application on Fibe TV, follow these steps:

On your TV

  1. Press iTV or Apps on your Fibe TV remote.
  2. Using the left and right arrows, scroll sideways to see the available apps.
  3. Select Twitter.
  4. Select the New User option.

  5. Enter the email address associated with the Twitter account you want to access.

  6. Confirm your email address.
  7. An activation email will be sent to the email address you just entered.

On your computer:

  1. Open the activation email on your computer and click on the link to activate the Fibe TV Twitter application.
  2. You'll be brought to the Twitter login page. Enter your Twitter login information.
  3. Once you've logged in, you'll be prompted to create a unique 4-digit PIN.
  4. After successfully creating your 4-digit PIN, you'll see the following confirmation message. You'll now be ready to launch the Twitter app on your TV.

To launch the Twitter app on your TV:

  1. Press Menu on your Fibe TV remote control.
  2. Select the Apps tab.
  3. Select Twitter.
  4. Choose the user profile you created earlier
  5. Enter your 4-digit PIN.

You're now ready to enjoy using the Twitter application.

Note: Fibe TV customers will be able to add up to 5 Twitter profiles per Fibe TV account.

Why can't I use all the features of Twitter on Fibe TV?

Twitter has chosen to make only the most frequently used features available through the Twitter application on Fibe TV.

More features may be added in the future.

Can I use parental controls to limit the use of the Twitter application on Fibe TV?

Yes, you can decide which users in your household can have access to the application. Follow these steps:

  1. Activate the parental controls on your receiver.
  2. Go to the Manage Users feature on the first screen.
  3. Use the arrow buttons on your remote control to select the Change button beside the setting you'd like to modify and then press Select to remove the desired account.

Is there a cost to use the Twitter application on Fibe TV?

You get the Twitter application at no extra charge when you subscribe to Fibe TV but using the application will count towards your Internet usage at the same download and upload rates as using the Internet on your computer.
