Reporting security issues

If you encounter phishing attempts from email or text/multimedia messages (SMS/MMS), or if you believe you may be the victim of fraudulent activity, consult the information below on how to report these issues.

Report any suspicious email that appears to be from Bell by forwarding it to phish@bell.ca. To do so, start a new email message and attach the suspicious email, as this will include additional header information to help us investigate

If you receive a suspicious text message (SMS) or multimedia message (MMS), forward it to short code SPAM (7726).

To forward a message from an Apple device:

  • Tap the message to open the conversation view but do not click on any links in the message.
  • Press and hold the message content you want to forward until More… appears, then select it.
  • The message you wish to forward will be selected. Select the arrow in the bottom-right corner.
  • Enter 7726 in the To: field and press the send button.
  • Delete the original message.

To forward a message from a Samsung device:

  • Tap the message to open the conversation view but do not click on any links in the message.
  • Press and hold the message content you want to forward. In the pop-up window, select Forward.
  • Enter 7726 as the recipient and tap + to accept it, then select Done.
  • In the message, select Send to forward the message.
  • Delete the original message.

To forward a message on most other Android devices:

  • Tap the message to open the conversation view but do not click on any links in the message.
  • Press and hold the message content you want to forward, then:
    • Tap on the three vertical dots at the top-right of the screen and select Forward.
      OR
      In the pop-up window, select Forward.
  • Enter 7726 as the recipient of the message, then:
    • Select New message.
      OR
      Tap + to accept it, then select Done.
  • In the message, select Send to forward the message.
  • Delete the original message.

Other tips to manage unwanted messages:

  • To stop getting alerts, reply to the unwanted text message with the word STOP.
  • Block the number from your phone.

If you are victim of a ransom threat, contact your local police. If the threat was received by email or text, be sure to keep a copy to show to the police, if requested.

If you have been a victim of identity theft or of telemarketing, email or Internet fraud, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or call them at 1 888 495-8501.

If you see suspicious activity on your Bell account such as a new line that you don’t recognize or a phone upgrade that you didn’t authorize, or if you suspect your device or SIM card has been compromised in any way, please contact Bell Loss Prevention at 1 800 509-9904 immediately. You can also log in to MyBell to report your device as lost and temporarily suspend your service.
