A PVR is tapeless and records content to a hard drive or a "soft buffer," both of which are integrated in the satellite receiver unit.
The PVR has additional features like the ability to pause real-time television. For example, if you need to answer the phone, you can pause the live broadcast program and then resume watching it when you are ready. You can also store the content on the hard drive by date and title so that you can easily view your recorded show.
You can still connect to both a PVR and a VCR to record programs on Bell Satellite TV.
NOTE: You cannot watch one program and tape over another simultaneously, unless you have more than one receiver. This applies to PVR models 5900, 5800 and 5100. However, you can still catch most of your favourite shows at different times with time shifting. Learn more about time shifting.HD PVRs PVRs allow you to record and watch at the same time. Learn more.
