On November 27, 2012, a major update to your Bell Satellite TV HD receiver and PVR began rolling out
The changes include:
Double the recording capacity
The recording capacity of your HD PVR receiver will increase -allowing you to record twice as many HD shows as before.
This change applies to all PVR models and HD receivers with an external hard drive connected for PVR capabilities.
Note: The expanded recording capacity came into effect on November 21, 2012. Programs recorded prior to this date will not be affected by the update.
Improved Bell TV programming guide and menu colours
Your programming guide is getting a new look. With darker, richer colours and improved sharpness and contrast, we’ve made the information easier to read.
While your guide may look different, these changes will not impact its functionality or change the way you use it. The new Bell TV programming guide is designed with an optimized display format to fit your screen in 4x3 and 16x9 resolution.
Improved accessibility for the visually impaired
In addition to improved contrast, we’re making things easier. There is now instant access to described video settings through these simple instructions:
- Press the MENU button.
- Press 3 to access the accessibility Setup menu.
- Toggle the left arrow button to highlight Enable and press SELECT to activate.
- Select Done to save your setting.
You can now turn the Descriptive Video feature on or off by just pressing the STAR (*) button on your remote control.
All of these upgrades will be uploaded to your receiver while in sleep mode and do not affect your TV viewing experience. None of your settings, recordings or features will be impacted by this upgrade.
NOTE: The software upgrade is applicable to all Bell Satellite HD and HD PVR receivers as it will ensure that they are able to receive future updates and new software functionality as they become available.
