How to connect your HD PVR receiver to the Internet
If you wish to order On Demand or Pay-per-View content directly from your television using your remote, you need to connect your Bell Satellite TV HD PVR receiver to the Internet. As an added bonus, you will also be able to manage your recordings from anywhere using a computer or a smartphone.
To get connected, you need:
- A compatible HD PVR receiver (model 9241 or 9400)
- High-speed Internet of 2 Mbps or faster. Test your speed now.
- An Ethernet cable or an Internet connectivity device from Bell
You have 3 options to connect your HD PVR receiver to the Internet:
1. Connect to your wired home network with an Ethernet cable
If your receiver is close to your router, or if you have network wall outlets in your home, you can connect your receiver to your wired home network using an Ethernet cable. Simply connect one end of the cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the receiver, and the other end to an Ethernet port either in a wall outlet or on the back of your router.
2. Connect to your Wi-Fi network with a Satellite TV Wi-Fi adapter from Bell
If your receiver is far from an Ethernet port, you can purchase a Satellite TV Wi-Fi adapter (if one wasn’t provided) to connect your HD PVR receiver to your home’s Wi-Fi network. Plug the Wi-Fi adapter into an available USB port on your receiver and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Connect with an Internet Connect kit from Bell
If Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections are not possible or are impractical, you can purchase an Internet Connect kit (if one wasn’t provided) to connect your receiver to the Internet using the electrical wiring in your home.
The kit comes with two adapters. You use one of the adapters to link your router to a nearby power outlet using an Ethernet cable. You then use the other adapter to link your receiver to a power outlet in the same fashion. The two adapters will find each other through the electrical wiring and establish a connection.
