Check available memory
To check how much memory is available on your BlackBerry smartphone:
- From the Home screen, select Options
- Select Status
- The field named File Free displays the amount of memory left. A value of zero means the smartphone is short on storage.

Reduce stored messages
Reducing the number of days you keep old email on your smartphone can free up some memory.
- From the Home screen, select Messages
- Select Options
- Select General Options
Scroll down and change the Keep Messages setting. We recommend 7 to 10 days.

Reducing the number of days you save old appointments on your smartphone is another way to make storage space available.
- From the Home screen, select Calendar
- Select Options
- Select General Options
Scroll down and change the Keep Appointments setting. We recommend 7 to 10 days.

You’ll save memory by removing applications and languages that you don’t use.
- From the Home screen, select Options
- Select Advanced Options
- Select Applications
- Highlight an application or language that is not used. The smartphone will not allow you to delete critical applications
- Once highlighted, select the Menu button
- Select Delete
- To confirm, select Delete when prompted
- When complete, a prompt to restart your smartphone will appear. Select Restart

Clear your Browser cache
Your browser cache is used to store Web pages and images so that they don't have to be re-downloaded while browsing. This may speed up the Web browsing experience. However, it also uses memory. It’s a good idea to clear your cache periodically to free up memory.
- From the Home screen, select Browser
- When the Browser loads, open the Menu
- Select Options
- Select Cache Operations
- Select the Clear button under Content Cache and Pushed Content
