How to configure my Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 for the Bell Mobility 4G network

If you bought your Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 from Bell, it is already set up for the Bell Mobility 4G network.

Follow these instructions to manually configure an unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 for multimedia messaging (MMS) and browsing on the Bell Mobility 4G network.

Browser settings

  1. Select Start > Settings > Connections Tap.
  2. Add a new modem connection in My Work Network.
  3. Enter the following settings:
    Name: Bell
    Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
  4. Select Next and enter the following settings:
    Access point name: pda.bell.ca
    User name:
    Password:
    Domain:
  5. Select Finish.
  6. Go back to the Connections menu and select Set up my proxy server.
  7. Put a check mark on This network connects to the Internet.
  8. Put a check mark on This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet.
  9. Enter the following setting:
    Proxy server: web.wireless.bell.ca
  10. Select Advanced and scroll down to WAP.
  11. Enter the following settings:
    Server: web.wireless.bell.ca
    Port: 80
  12. Select OK to save the settings.
  13. Go back to the Connections menu and select Manage existing connections.
  14. Select My Connection and select OK.

If you bought your phone from another mobile provider, the browser home page may be hardcoded to go to that provider’s WAP page. This page will not load under Bell settings. You can browse to other websites by manually entering the URLs.

MMS settings

  1. Select Start > Messaging > SMS/MMS > Menu > MMS Option > Select Servers Tap > Select New.
  2. Enter the following settings:
    Server name: Bell
    Gateway: web.wireless.bell.ca
    Port number: 80
    Server address: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
    Connect via: My Work Internet
    Send limit: 300k
    WAP version: WAP 2.0
  3. Select Done.
  4. Set Bell as the default setting.

Please note that you will have to reprogram these settings any time you insert a different SIM card or if you reset the phone.
