How to configure my Samsung A886 for the Bell Mobility 4G network

Follow these instructions to manually configure an unlocked Samsung A886 for MMS and browsing on the Bell Mobility 4G network.

Browser settings

  1. Navigate to Access Point settings: Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Network Profiles.
  2. Select Create and create a new profile with the following settings:
    • Set Name: Bell WAP Connection (can be anything)
    • Access Name: pda.bell.ca
    • Auth Type: Normal
    • User ID: None
    • Password:  None
    • Protocol:  HTTP
    • Home URL: http://homepage
    • Proxy Address: web.wireless.bell.ca
    • Longer Time (sec.): 300
    • Select Save to go back to Network Profiles menu.
  3. Return to the Menu settings and select Internet.
  4. After the browser has loaded, select Settings > Browser Profiles then select the name of the newly created profile (e.g. Bell WAP Connection).

MMS settings

  1. Navigate to Access Point settings: Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Network Profiles.
  2. Select Create and create a new profile with the following settings:
    • Set Name: Bell MMS (can be anything)
    • Access Name: pda.bell.ca
    • Auth Type: Normal
    • User ID: None
    • Password:  None
    • Protocol:  HTTP
    • Home URL: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
    • Proxy Address: web.wireless.bell.ca
    • Longer Time (sec.): 300
    • Select Save to go back to Network Profiles menu.
  3. Select Menu > Message > Message Settings > Picture Messages > Picture Message Profile. From the picture message profiles, select Bell MMS.

Please note that you will have to re-enter the above settings anytime you insert a different SIM card or if you reset to default settings.
