  2. Plug the phone splitter into the wall jack.
  3. Plug the modem’s phone cord into one side of the splitter.
  4. Plug your phone’s cable into a filter.

Add filters to your other phones

Installing a filter between a phone and its wall jack prevents noise interference when the same line is being used for your Internet connection. They may also prevent speed and service interruptions.

All phones, fax machines and satellite receivers connected to the phone line must use filters.

Do not use a filter between the modem and the phone jack.

For each other phone in your home:

  1. Unplug the phone’s cable from the wall.
  2. Plug the phone’s cable into a filter.
  3. Plug the filter back into the wall jack.

Confirm that your modem is working properly

If your modem is working properly, the following lights should be green:

  • Power
  • DSL
  • Ethernet (if connected)
  • Internet (flickers when sending or receiving data)

If these lights are not green, turn off your modem (or unplug it), wait 30 to 60 seconds and then turn it back on (or plug it back in). Wait a few minutes and then check your lights again.

If modem lights are red:

Power – If this light is red and all other lights are off, please contact us.

Ethernet/Wireless – If both these lights are off, then your computer is not connected to the modem. Check your Ethernet cable connection.

DSL – If this light is red, then your filters have not been set up properly. Return to Connect your modem to a wall phone jack to ensure you’ve connected the DSL cable correctly.

Internet – If this light is red then there may be a problem with your Bell Internet username or password

  2. Click the Home Network Modem tab.
  3. Click Admin Password.
  4. Check off Enable.
  5. Think of a password and enter it in the Enter New Password and Confirm New Password boxes.
  6. You may enter a hint in the Enter Your Hint box.
  7. Click Save.

Tip: Your password is used to access your modem and change your home network settings. Keep a copy of your modem password in a safe place.
