How to stop annoying fax calls to my Bell home phone line

Use Three-Way Calling to redirect the fax call

Redirecting fax calls to your fax machine with Three-Way-Calling will allow you to identify the sender.

  1. When you answer the call and hear a fax beep, press the Link, Flash or receiver button.
  2. Press *71 on your Touch-Tone TM phone (or dial 1171 on a rotary phone).
  3. Listen for 3 beeps, followed by a dial tone.
  4. Dial the number of the fax machine and wait for it to answer.
  5. Press the Link, Flash or receiver button briefly.
  6. Stay on the line until all the noise stops
  7. The fax will be delivered to your fax machine. Usually, the cover page will identify the sender and include a voice number, so you can contact the sender to stop the fax calls.

Register with the National Do Not Call List to remove your name and phone number from telemarketing lists.

Use Call Screen to block up to 12 fax callers

You can send the last fax caller to your Call Screen List even if you don’t know the number:

  1. Hang up on the fax call.
  2. Pick up the phone and listen for the dial tone.
  3. Press *60 (or dial 1160 on a rotary phone).
  4. To add the last caller, press #01# (12 then 01 on a rotary phone)

Use Last Call Return to find out the fax number

If your fax machine isn’t on a separate phone line:

  • Use Last Call Return (*69) to hear the fax number of the party calling.
  • Contact the sender by fax to stop the fax calls.

You can also report the problem to Bell Customer Service. We'll contact the sender on your behalf and ask them to remove you from their list.
