If you need to call 9-1-1 from your mobile phone, your Bell Mobility device can provide emergency operators your mobile phone number with area code and information about your location.
The accuracy of your location information depends on the area you’re in when you call 9-1-1 and the capabilities of the local emergency operator taking the call. There are two levels or phases of enhanced 9-1-1 service available:
- Phase 1 is available in most areas with 9-1-1 service and provides emergency operators with your approximate location information, as determined by the nearest cellular tower handling the 9-1-1 call.
- Phase 2 enables 9-1-1 emergency operators to determine your location more accurately by combining the GPS (Global Positioning System) capability of your mobile device and the location of the nearest cellular tower handling the 9-1-1 call.
