From March 2011 to 2013, we'll be migrating all Call Answer and Local Link Voice mailboxes to a new IP-based voice messaging platform. This upgrade will allow us to introduce new features and applications that are not currently available.
To ensure as little impact to your service as possible, the upgrade will take place overnight. Customers will be notified by a voice message in their mailbox 14 days prior, and again two days prior to their migration.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
BEFORE THE MIGRATION
You don't have to do a thing. Rest assured that this migration will not affect your current voicemail service. All existing greetings, passwords and saved messages will be transferred to the new platform and there will be no changes to your features or their functionality.
DURING THE MIGRATION
The migration will take place overnight and it is expected that most systems will be out of service for a maximum of nine hours. During this period, callers who dial your telephone number will not be routed to your mailbox. They will instead hear ringing with no answer. Likewise, if you call in to retrieve your messages, you'll also hear ringing with no answer.
AFTER THE MIGRATION
Once the migration is complete, you'll have full access to all of your voicemail features. You'll also be able to send messages to users on both the new and old platforms, and they'll be able to send messages to you. Use the same star codes as always to perform these functions.
You'll also still be able to access your mailbox while away using these two methods:
- Dial your own number, press 9 and follow the user prompts, or
- Use the new toll-free number within Canada and the United States. Dial 1 877 235-5777 and follow the user prompts.
NOTE: These changes do not apply to Bell Mobility customers. For more information on the impact to business services, you can find additional information here.
